Feeding Hope In Our Community

Did you know, 1 in every 5 households in Louisiana are at risk of hunger? The chances of you knowing someone who might now have enough to eat tonight are very high, especially children. One in every four children under age 5, and one in every five children under age 18 are at risk of hunger. With rising costs of food, gas a rent, more and more members of our community are hit with uncertainty. United Way Second Harvest Food Bank is working towards tackling this issue and build food security in South Louisiana.

Some of this amazing organization’s programs include food boxes for families, public benefit enrollment support for clients, family nutrition education classes, they hold fund raising events and much more. Over the last year, the organization has distributed over 30 million pounds of food and groceries to more than 210,000 individual households across 23 parishes.
